Trending Vacation Ideas For 2021
Post pandemic, everyone is taking a big breath. Even though offices are becoming obsolete, the hustle and bustle of working from home can lead to burnout. While resistance may seem futile, we all still need a little downtime. Thankfully traveling restrictions are lifting and so are our spirits with some new options for vacations.
However, we all want to take a measured approach and maybe do something a little different than before. Where do you start? Are you looking for some peace and quiet or a fun bar-hopping experience with great views? Here are 5 of the trending vacations ideas for 2021:
Camping, Anyone?
If you’re looking for a quiet getaway where it’s just you, your favorite people, and a great view, try looking into some camping spots. For the people who really like roughing it in a tent, check out Cook’s Forest or Deep Creek Lake. If you’re more for “glamping”, try Airydale Retreat outside of Raystown Lake or stay in a styling yurt in South Sterling.
Western Pennsylvania Wine Country
We’re all disappointed that music festivals in Pittsburgh are still on hold, but there’s a big, wide countryside still open. Laurel Highlands is famous for its farms, famous vacation homes, and beautiful views, but it’s also known for its wineries. Likewise, Erie is known for its Wine Trail that stretches from northern Pennsylvania to western New York. If you’re looking to get even further away, check out West Virginia’s Wine Road Trip or the famous Sonoma! If you aren’t into wine, try out some whisky or rum.
Treat Yourself with a Yoga Retreat
Need some mindfulness to go along with your getaway? From your own backyard in Pittsburgh to the Poconos and Hershey, yoga retreats can be a physical and mental getaway. Looking for something that’s easy on your budget and even further away from the noise? Try these spots, which are the hottest and most affordable yoga retreats that’ll get you saying “ommmmm”.
Hiking Through History
Hiking is a great way to get away from the crowd and into the open air, but a big trend this year is working your mind as you walk. Have some extra time or holidays designated for COVID getaways, but don’t know what to do? Try a few historic trails – you can find these throughout Pittsburgh. You can start small by circling Herrs Island (stop by Washington’s Landing for a great view and some literature) or try out the Rails to Trails.
Cross Country Getaway
If all else fails, the biggest trend in 2021 is to buy yourself an RV and hit the road! You can roam from Plymouth to Napa Valley. As long as there’s a road, the options are endless.
As restrictions and travel open up, don’t keep limiting yourself to staycations. There’s a big world out there that’s waiting for you to stop by. Stay tuned for more travel destinations from PYP!
